Questions worth
building around.

We are developing a research programme at the intersection of AI capability, efficient compute and physical action. These are the questions guiding our work.

01

Physical intelligence

Physical intelligence connects what a system perceives and understands to what a machine can do. Our interest is in the path between a capable model and a dependable action.

The research question

How can learned capability be expressed as behaviour that is useful, bounded and assessable in a physical environment?

Areas of investigation

  • Perception, reasoning and action interfaces
  • Task-specific policy adaptation
  • Explicit action constraints and fallback behaviour
  • Evaluation under changing physical conditions
02

Efficient intelligence
at the edge

A model’s capability is only one part of its usefulness. Memory, energy, latency, connectivity and the target device all affect what can operate close to a machine.

The research question

What should remain local, what can be made smaller, and how do we retain the capability that matters for the task?

Areas of investigation

  • Task-aware compression and model adaptation
  • Local execution and constrained compute
  • Latency, memory and energy trade-offs
  • Repeatable evaluation on target hardware
03

Hardware–software
co-design

Models, runtime software, sensors, compute and actuators interact. We approach them as parts of a connected system, with design choices evaluated together.

The research question

How can the intelligence and its physical platform be designed together, so that improvements in one do not create hidden costs in another?

Areas of investigation

  • Model, runtime and device interfaces
  • Execution boundaries and timing assumptions
  • Observable system behaviour
  • Feedback between hardware constraints and software design

Research practice

Make the question clear.
Make the evidence useful.

We want our research to connect ambitious questions to concrete engineering work: defined tasks, observable behaviour, reproducible evaluation and explicit limitations.

Our journal introduces the thinking behind this programme. Future technical publications will distinguish research hypotheses, implementation choices and measured results.
